NYC based Illustrators Craig and Karl have done a great job
‘illustrating’ this car park. (Nice brief.)

If you need an iphone app that is just pictures of shrink-wrapped
spooning couples and Chuck is out the office, Photographer Hal
is your man.

In “The Obliteration Room” by artist Yayoi Kusama,
a stark-white domestic environment is gradually ‘obliterated’
over the course of the exhibition, the space changing
measurably with the passage of time as thousands and
thousands of gallery-goers (“collaborators”) fill every surface
with brightly colored stickers.

This Japanese sculptor makes work using old skateboard decks.

Sister Corita’s art reflects her spirituality, her commitment
to social justice, her hope for peace, and her delight in the
world that takes place all around us. She’s a truly inspirational
person. Aaron Rose’s interview says it best. A section from
a more in depth documentary about her ‘Become A Microscope:
90 Statements on Sister Corita’
can be seen here.

Illustrator Jean Jullien's whimsical cell phone covers add colorful
personality and subtract the features we take for granted.

These eye-popping graphics for FLOW Festival by Finnish
illustrator Santtu Mustonen offer a radically different and
fresh take on 3D computer graphics.

This is a book about an art director that changed the way
things were done. If youre interested in Advertising, DDB
or art direction it is well worth engaging with.

Despite the majority of his work being print based the concepts
and attitudes towards problem solving and communication are
very relevant today.

“Every art director, copywriter, planner, account person
and client should read it. It will make you better at your job.”
Paul Belford, Creative Review

“Amongst art directors there’s Helmut Krone, and then
there’s everyone else.”
Bob Gage, DDB’s first art director

“If you really want to be a great art director then this is the
one art director you have to study. I really enjoyed it.
It’s educational, instructive and most importantly, entertaining.
A real tour-de-force.”
John Hegarty, founder partner Bartle Bogle Hegarty

In his monograph “Is This Place Great or What”, Brian Ulrich
presents a decade-long exploration of American consumer society.
He focuses on architectural legacies of a retail-driven economy in
the midst of collapse—shopping malls on the brink of demolition,
empty big box stores, and other retail structures in transition.
As well as teenage shoppers lost in reverie over a new pair of shoes,
thrift-store mavens determined to find the best deal possible,
and families desperately in search of that perfect purchase.
Much of it shot in and around Chicagoland.

Matthew Green is the London based illustrator we worked
with on the Field Museum Chocolate campaign.

Always recognizable in tone and aesthetic, Anthony’s
work is a great example of some one who has successfully
developed their own visual language, now recognized
the world over.

A dark satire in which the token black man on the executive board
of an advertising firm is accidentally put in charge. He replaces the
tight regime of monied white ad men with his militant brothers.
Soon afterwards, however, the power that comes with its position
takes its toll on Putney. Though dated, calling the agency
“Truth & Soul” is reason enough to watch it.
We'll put a copy on the swap.

Tom, a waterfall and a sandwich. What's not to like?

It feels like a privilege to see some of these. From a time
before profile pictures when your stationery mattered.

Painful, mean, and often a little too accurate.

“Ads for admen and women”. What do you expect it’s a call
for entries to an awards show. These are insightful and well
executed, funny and entertaining. Rami Niemi’s illustrations
provide a fresh, distinct and contemporary tone of voice.
They were produced out of DDB NYC.
